Titas launches drive to disconnect illegal gas lines in Savar, Gouripur

DHAKA, Oct 16, 2025 (BSS) - Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited conducted drives in Savar and Gouripur areas of Cumilla district yesterday to disconnect illegal gas connections and prevent gas stealing.

During the operations, the authority, led by its executive magistrates, removed 600 meters of illegal distribution lines and realized fines amounting to Taka 4,60,000, said a press release issued today.

In Savar, a team from the company's regional distribution wing, led by an executive magistrate, disconnected illegal gas connections of two industrial units located in Omarpur and Raj Fulbaria areas. The team removed 450 meters of illegal gas distribution lines and dismantled 700 feet of gas pipelines.

The mobile court also permanently disconnected gas lines of Uttaran Fashion and Mubtadi Garments and sealed their source points. A fine of Taka 2 lakh was realized from each of the factories for illegally using gas, the release added.

Meanwhile, another executive magistrate led similar drives in Daudkandi, Bhulirpar, Baganbari, and Gouripur West Bazar areas under Cumilla district. During the operations, the team disconnected eight illegal household connections and collected fines totaling Taka 60,000.

Titas authorities said the drives will continue to prevent illegal use of gas and ensure lawful distribution.
