NARAYANGANJ, Oct 13, 2025 (BSS) – An extensive mobile court drive led by Executive Magistrate Moniza Khatun of the Energy and Mineral Resources Division was conducted on Sunday at Rupganj Upazila in Narayanganj and slashed illegal gas connections.
The drive focused on the areas of Kazipara, Rupsi, Baniadi, Lakhya, and Jatrabari.
The mobile court took immediate and exemplary action against illegal gas users, particularly industrial consumers, said a press release today.
The structures of two lime factories were completely demolished using excavators across the targeted areas.
Furthermore, gas connections in three illegal gas-using lime factories located in Uttar Rupsi had been severed.
During the operation in Uttar Rupsi, a one-inch diameter service line belonging to a lime factory was disconnected, and 50 feet of pipe was removed.
The operation also permanently disconnected residential illegal gas supply. In total, 24 residential connections were permanently severed across Rupganj Upazila. Additionally, one gas consumer was penalized.
Huge quantities of illegally installed pipes and equipment were seized in the drive.
A one-inch diameter distribution line was severed, impacting a 400-meter area at Kazipara area. This single action permanently disconnected 30 burners of 20 homes. Authorities uprooted 50 feet of one-inch diameter pipe and 100 feet of hose pipe from this site.
A separate operation at Baniadi, Lakhya, and Jatrabari areas focused on disconnecting three- and four-inch diameter transmission lines, which successfully severed eight illegal burners in four houses.
