DHAKA, Oct 13, 2025 (BSS) – Newly appointed French Ambassador Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet today urged Bangladeshi students to choose France for higher education, highlighting his country’s world-class academic excellence, affordable tuition fee, and multicultural environment fostering global learning and people-to-people exchanges.

“Let me reassure you that you can live comfortably in France nowadays as most people in big cities speak English. Moreover, universities offer an increasing number of programmes entirely in English,” a French embassy statement quoted him as saying at an event in the capital.

It said the envoy made the remarks while inaugurating the “Choose France Tour” at the Alliance Française de Dhaka, underscoring Paris’s commitment to strengthen educational and cultural cooperation with Bangladesh.

The two-day event, organized by Campus France Bangladesh, aims to connect Bangladeshi students with top French universities and institutions.

The statement said following its Dhaka session, the tour will conclude in Chattogram on Tuesday, where the ambassador would meet students as well at the Hotel Peninsula.

Séré-Charlet highlighted the growing enthusiasm among French universities for Bangladeshi students saying “last year ten universities joined the event, and this year we are pleased to have twelve, which reflects the expanding academic collaboration between our two countries”.

He reassured students concerned about language barriers saying “let me reassure you that you can live comfortably in France nowadays as most people in big cities speak English. Moreover, universities offer an increasing number of programmes entirely in English”.

According to Campus France, Bangladeshi students can now choose from nearly 1,700 English-taught programmes in disciplines such as business, management, engineering, law, social sciences and the arts.

Non-French speakers are also offered French language courses alongside their academic studies to ease integration into French society.
France additionally provides extensive opportunities for doctoral research through a dynamic, innovation-driven higher education ecosystem that attracts scholars from around the globe.

The ambassador interacted with students attending the fair and encouraged them to utilize the advisory services of Campus France, which helps applicants identify suitable institutions and scholarship opportunities in line with their academic goals.

The “Choose France Tour” represents a growing pillar of Bangladesh–France relations, reflecting both countries’ shared interest in fostering people-to-people exchanges, academic mobility, and mutual understanding.
