Jamaat seeks Germany's cooperation for free, fair, credible polls

DHAKA, Oct 12, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami today urged Germany to extend cooperation and technical assistance to help ensure a free, fair and credible national election, underscoring the significance of it for the country's future.

Jamaat Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman made the call when German Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr Rdiger Lotz paid a courtesy call on him and had a breakfast meeting at the Jamaat Ameer's Office at 9am in the capital's Bashundhara.

At the outset of the meeting, the ambassador inquired about the health condition of Jamaat Ameer and conveyed his sincere wishes for a swift and complete recovery.

Jamaat also expressed hope for Germany's continued support in protecting women's rights, enhancing their skills in the workplace, and promoting overall development in the country.

In addition, discussions were also held on the country's human rights situation, freedom of expression, sustainable democracy, and the need to further strengthen democratic institutions.

Both sides expressed optimism that the existing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Germany, particularly in trade, investment, and economic cooperation, would deepen further in the coming days.
Deputy Head of Mission of the German Embassy Anja Carsten, and Political and Press Officer Sharleena Nuzhat Kabir accompanied the envoy.

Besides, Jamaat Assistant Secretary General and Chief of the party's Publicity and Media Department Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair, Foreign Affairs Adviser Professor Dr Mahmudul Hasan, and Dhaka North Medical Thana Jamaat Ameer Dr S M Khaliduzzaman were present.
