ICS-backed panel unveils 33-point manifesto for CUCSU polls

CHATTOGRAM, Oct 8, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Islami Chhatro Shibir (ICS)-backed 
panel 'Sampritir Shikkarti Jote' today declared its 33-point manifesto and a 
12-month action plan ahead of the Chattogram University Central Students' 
Union (CUCSU) polls, scheduled to be held on October 15, focusing on quality 
education, research and safety of the campus.

The announcement was made during a press conference at 'Buddijibi Chattor' on 
the campus at 3 pm today.

Vice-President (VP) candidate Ibrahim Hossain Rony announced the manifesto on 
behalf of the panel.

The manifesto outlines priorities such as resolving the housing crisis, 
improving shuttle services, ensuring safe bus transportation, providing 
affordable healthy food, reducing congestion, enhancing student facilities, 
holding regular elections, creating a fascism-free campus, and honoring the 
spirit of the Liberation War and July Revolution.

It also includes commitments to maternity leave, women-friendly spaces, 
combating sexual harassment and cyber bullying, fostering an educational 
environment, boosting research funding, improving libraries, offering basic 
healthcare, providing advanced medical services, maintaining safe and green 
campuses, addressing issues at the hall and faculty level, establishing 
prayer rooms, promoting literary and cultural activities, and upholding the 
rights of all ethnic groups.

The manifesto outlines various initiatives such as the introduction of 
automation systems, enhancing higher education and skill development, 
providing rights and scholarships for disabled students, constructing TSC and 
central auditoriums, offering opportunities for physical exercise, 
establishing legal aid cells, launching official e-mails, strengthening 
alumni networks, setting up mental health councils, and implementing on-
campus job programs. 

The 'Sampritir Chhatra Jote' has identified nine key focus areas from the 33-
point manifesto, including housing, transportation, healthy food, campus 
safety and greenery, session coordination, automation, education, research 
and career development, creating a women-friendly campus, and organising 
welfare activities.
 
The VP candidate Ibrahim Rony emphasized that the manifesto addresses 
students' essential issues and aspirations, with a commitment to implementing 
all 33 points within 12 months, prioritizing the nine focus areas.
