DHAKA, Oct 5, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said today that education is the backbone of a nation and its foundation is not built through showy development projects like flyovers and overpasses.
"The backbone of a nation is its education and the nation's foundation is not built with ostentatious development like flyovers and overpasses," he said.
Rizvi made the remarks as the chief guest at a ceremony held at the BNP Chairperson's office in Gulshan. The event provided merit-based scholarships and encouragement from the party's Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman to the research team of Islamic University of Technology (IUT) students who built the racing car.
The veteran BNP leader remarked, "The innovative potential of the country's young students is incredible. The achievement of the students from the IUT in building a racing car and participating in an international competition is a glorious pride for the entire nation.
Given the opportunity, the youth of Bangladesh can also achieve the impossible."
Calling the students' work on merit and innovative power 'no small feat', Rizvi said, "It makes us feel extremely good and happy, especially when we hear that they are going to participate in a competition in a technologically advanced country like China, proving that we can too. If we get a little opportunity, our boys can achieve the impossible."
Expressing deep concern over the country's overall education system, Rizvi said, "Where the quality of education in Bangladesh is not good and the infrastructure is weaker compared to neighboring countries, undertaking research in high-tech areas like racing cars is extremely difficult. Suitable education programmes have been systematically destroyed in the country for a long time."
"Due to the absence of opportunities for intellectual and scientific practice over the last 15-16 years, thugs and goons are being created today. I saw in the newspaper today that a Chhatra League leader of Tejgaon College is plotting to assassinate the Chief Adviser of the interim government sitting in Syedpur. If there were a truly science and technology-based education system, such a situation would not arise."
Rizvi said that BNP's Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, with deep foresight, is searching for and encouraging the talents of the country's youth.
