DHAKA, Oct 2, 2025 (BSS) – Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has strongly condemned and protested what it termed the “heinous role” of the occupying Israeli authorities in seizing Gaza-bound aid ships and urged the international community to ensure their safe passage.
In a statement issued today, Jamaat Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Parwar said that since October 2023, nearly 70,000 innocent people, most of them women and children, have been killed in Gaza due to Israeli aggression.
Citing warnings from the United Nations and other rights groups, he said famine and disease have already taken a catastrophic turn in Gaza, and without the urgent delivery of relief, the deaths of thousands of women and children are inevitable.
“We have come to know that Israel has detained 13 aid boats of the ‘Global Sumud Flotilla’ along with many human rights activists on board. These vessels were carrying food, water, and medicine for the people of Gaza. I strongly condemn and protest this inhumane act of Israel,” he added.
Professor Parwar further said that, according to international humanitarian law, no one can obstruct the delivery of humanitarian assistance to its destination. By seizing the boats and detaining human rights activists, Israel has committed a grave crime against humanity.
He noted that the incident has already sparked widespread condemnation worldwide, while Turkey’s Foreign Ministry termed Israel’s action a “terrorist attack” that has put innocent lives at grave risk.
“Basically, the occupying Israeli regime is carrying out ethnic cleansing in Palestine. By obstructing aid vessels in international waters, it has committed an extreme crime and one of the most heinous offences against humanity,” he said.
Calling upon the international community, the Jamaat leader urged immediate pressure on Israel to ensure that the Gaza-bound aid ships reach their destination safely. He also demanded the safety and unconditional release of the detained human rights activists.
