DHAKA, Oct 1, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has extended heartfelt greetings to the Hindu community on the occasion of Sharadiya Durga Puja and Vijaya Dashami.

“The biggest religious and social festival of the Hindu community is Sharadiya Durga Puja and Vijoya Dashami. On this occasion, I extend my heartfelt greetings and warm congratulations to all followers of the Hindu faith. I wish them continued happiness, peace and well-being,” he said in a statement today.

Mirza Fakhrul said that Sharadiya Durga Puja holds a special place in the lives of all members of the Bengali-speaking Hindu community. For a long time, this religious festival of Bengali-speaking people, including those in Bangladesh, has been graced with a rich heritage, he added.

Mentioning the politically motivated provocations during the Awami League government's tenure, the BNP secretary general said, “During the Awami regime, various unpleasant and fabricated incidents have repeatedly occurred, including communal incitement, attacks and vandalism on the places of worship of different religious communities to gain political motives."

"Even after fall of Awami League regime, their followers are still active. However, the people of the country are unitedly guarding the puja mandaps to thwart the conspiracies of the evil circle, so that Sharadiya Durga Puja can be completed peacefully and without disruption through co-existence. BNP is committed to resisting them," he added.

Mirza Fakhrul urged all citizens of the country, irrespective of religion or caste, to maintain harmony and security during Sharadiya Durga Puja. “I call upon everyone to remain vigilant so that the sinister activities of malevolent forces cannot obstruct the Durga Puja festival in any way." he added.
