DHAKA, Sept 28, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Vice-Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu today said those who are trying to prolong the upcoming national election by presenting new demands are living in a fool's paradise.
He said, "A certain quarter believes that they have no future if an election takes place. That's why they are trying to prolong the election with various statements and demands. Those who are doing this are basically living in a fool's paradise."
Dudu made the remarks as the chief guest at a rally in front of the National Press Club organized by the Jatiyatabadi Lekhak Forum (Nationalist Writers' Forum).
Mentioning that people are eagerly waiting to exercise their voting rights, the senior BNP leader said, "The people of the country have been struggling for 16 years to protect their rights. The only means to protect those rights is an election. If anyone thinks otherwise, let us test our popularity through an election."
He also criticized the past tenure of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, describing it as "ruthless and autocratic," and said her downfall was "the revenge of time."
The rally was presided over by Jatiyatabadi Lekhak Forum President Kabi Shahin Reza, while BNP Chairperson's Advisor Bir Muktijoddha Abdus Salam and Forum member Mainul Islam, among others, addressed the event.
