DHAKA, Sept 26, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy today said those who are aligned with fascists want a special method in the upcoming national parliamentary election.

“Those who have aligned themselves with fascists are demanding the special method. If the election is not held, fascism will be re-established in the country and if communal forces raise their heads, it will be disastrous for the nation,” he said.

Gayeshwar came up with the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a view-exchange meeting and gift distribution programme with various Hindu Puja committees of the Dhaka-7 constituency marking Sharadiya Durga Utsav-2025 at the Kellar Mor Shawshan Ghat (near the Lalbagh Model School and College).

Mentioning the National election, Gayeshwar said, “The upcoming national election is crucial. No matter how much talk there is about the election, no one is lagging in campaigning. There is a conspiracy underway to make the election uncertain by using the PR (Proportional Representation) system. We don't understand PR.”

“Many people are getting agitated because the public will vote for the 'Sheaf of Paddy'. In one area, there is often only one candidate from one party. All candidates must first jointly seek votes for the 'Sheaf of Paddy,' only then victory will come. If votes are sought in a divided manner, voters will become confused,” he added.

The BNP leader said, “Some people might try to fish in troubled waters centered the Durga Puja celebrations. For this, everyone must remain vigilant. Every BNP activists must guard the Puja mandaps.”

Former Joint Convener of the Dhaka Mohanagar South BNP Mosharraf Hossain Khokon presided over the event while Executive President of Gono Forum Subrata Chowdhury, BNP Assistant Youth Affairs Secretary Mir Newaz Ali, Joint Convener of Dhaka Mohanagar South BNP Haji Monir Hossain, and member Anwar Parvez Badal, former Chatra Dal leader Riaz Uddin Ahmed Moni and Robin Hossain spoke, among others.
