DHAKA, Sept 12, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman today spoken out against recent Israeli plans to expand settlements in the occupied West Bank, calling the move heartbreaking and a step that makes a future Palestinian state virtually impossible.

He shared the information in his verified Facebook page. 

In the Facebook post, Tarique Rahman asserted that Bangladeshis worldwide have always shown solidarity with the Palestinian people against violent colonial oppression and erasure.

He described the continued apartheid and attack on the people of Palestine, their culture, their land, their history by Benjamin Netanyahu as no less than genocide and planned ethnic cleansing of Palestinians and called the situation 'abhorrent.'

Tarique Rahman also expressed deep concern for the safety and security of the many Bangladeshis who live and work in the Middle East and Gulf region, stating that the current Israeli government's actions are pushing the entire region towards an abyss.

He concluded his statement with a strong appeal to the international community, urging them to condemn and put pressure on the Israeli government for their settlement plans and urged the International Court of Justice not to delay their verdict of a clear genocide in Gaza by the Israeli government while Palestinians suffer even more.
