DHAKA, Sept 10, 2025 (BSS) - BNP standing committee member Salahuddin Ahmed today congratulated the winners of the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) elections, describing the polls as a reflection of democratic practice.

"I personally congratulate those who have won the DUCSU elections. This is the principle of democracy," he said.

He made the remarks while addressing a discussion organized at the Institution of Diploma Engineers in Kakrail, marking the 47th founding anniversary of Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal.

Salahuddin noted that although the elections were a positive development, there were certain irregularities. "Since the election was held after many years, there were some shortcomings and flaws," he observed.

Mohila Dal President Afroza Abbas presided over the programme, while General Secretary Sultana Ahmed moderated it. Leaders and activists from different levels of the organization were present at the event.

Emphasizing the importance of women's leadership in building a progressive society, Salahuddin said, "A woman's ideology has a great influence on the family. A mother's role in shaping her children is unmatched. Through this influence, women must help transform society."

Highlighting the need for political reform, the senior BNP leader said, "After the July uprising, our biggest challenge is to change the political culture in Bangladesh's new journey. We must continue this struggle to establish a culture of democracy, tolerance, and empathy."
