DHAKA, Sept 4, 2025 (BSS) - The Criminal Investigation Department (CID)
arrested a Shramik League(SL) leader in a murder case linked to the July
Uprising from the capital's Mirpur area early today.
The arrested has been identified as Abdul Halim Sheikh, president of Ward No.
15 branch of Dhanmondi Thana Sramik League.
An operational team of the CID's Dhaka Metro South Division conducted a raid
in Mirpur's Section-2 area around 1.15 am today after they confirmed the
involvement of Halim in shooting and dead a 14-year old teenager, Abdullah
Siddique, during the anti-discrimination student movement on September 19
last year.
Later, a murder case was filed with Dhanmondi Police Station in this
connection.
Special Superintendent of Police (Media), CID in Dhaka Jasim Uddin Khan
confirmed Halim's arrest.
The investigation revealed that Halim actively participated in the
suppression of the movement and was directly involved in the shooting
incident on the teenage protesters.
It is worth noting that during the anti-discrimination movement, Abdullah
Siddique was shot and dead on the spot in the capital's Dhanmondi area.
When the protesters took him to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH)
with gunshot wounds, the on-duty doctor declared him dead. Later, an attempt
was made to hide the body of the deceased, the CID official added.
The investigation and operation of the CID Dhaka Metro South Division are
continuing to unravel the mystery of the case and identify and arrest the
other accused, he also confirmed.
