DHAKA, Sept 3, 2025 (BSS) - Police today arrested nine people including two brothers of the notorious 'Kobji Kata' group for their suspected link to attack a policeman in the capital's Adabar area.
The arrested have been identified as Md. Johnny (24), his brother Md. Roni (27), Md. Osman (20), Md. Nazir (20), Md. Raju (27), Md. Shakil (19), Md. Abul Kamal Azad (19), Md. Reju Khan Alam (22) and Md. Al-Amin (18).
They were arrested today from Keraniganj and Savar areas based on secret information in connection with the attack on a policeman Al-Amin in the Shyamoli Housing area of Adabar in the capital on September 1.
Two country-made sharp weapons were seized from their possessions.
Deputy Commissioner of Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan of Police (DMP) Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed the arrests.
Immediately after the attack on a policeman with sharp weapons, several operational teams of the DB-Tejgaon division launched operations to arrest the gang members.
Initial interrogation revealed that the arrestees are active members of the dreaded "Kobji Kata" group in the capital's Mohammadpur-Adabar area.
Two brothers Johny and Rony are running the Kobji Kata group as its ringleader Anwar is now in jail.
The detainees are involved in criminal activities such as assaulting police, extortion, robbery, fighting, drug use, eve-teasing, kidnapping, ransom demands and forced occupation.
