DHAKA, Aug 31, 2025 (BSS) – The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has carried out separate drives at the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) headquarters in Dhaka, as well as in Bhola and Bogura districts, in response to allegations of irregularities and corruption.
According to a press release issued by the ACC, the drive from the Commission’s head office followed complaints of serious malpractices, including revenue evasion, taking bribes in exchange for reactivating deactivated corporate SIMs and misappropriation of public funds under the guise of official meetings.
The ACC enforcement team visited the BTRC headquarters, examined relevant documents, and gathered necessary information related to the allegations. Initial findings indicate the authenticity of several accusations.
In Bhola, another ACC team from the Integrated District Office, Barishal, conducted an operation at the office of the Project Implementation Officer (PIO) of Char Fashion Upazila.
The inquiry revealed that significant irregularities took place in the implementation of various projects under the Test Relief (TR), Food-for-Work (Kabikha) and Taka for Work (Kabita) programs for the fiscal year 2024–25.
Meanwhile, in Bogura, an ACC team from the District Office conducted an operation at the Nandigram Upazila Health Complex amid complaints of service irregularities, patient harassment, and mismanagement.
The team inspected various hospital wards, spoke to patients and reviewed official registers. The investigation revealed a shortage of medical staff and negligence in service delivery.
The ACC team provided directives to the Upazila Health and Family Welfare Officer for improving healthcare services and collected documents for further investigation.
The ACC confirmed that initial findings point to significant irregularities and corruption in all three locations.
Legal actions will be taken following a thorough investigation and analysis of collected evidence.
