LAKSHMIPUR, Aug 31, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Joint Secretary General and District BNP Convener Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie today said there is no place in BNP if one behaves like fascist.
“The nation witnessed the tragic consequences of the Awami League's fascist character on August 5. If no one learns the lesson, they will have to suffer its consequences in future,” he said while visiting venue of BNP representative conference of Bhadur Union No. 3, Ramganj Upazila in the district.
Annie further said, “The Awami League had behaved like fascism for the past 17 years. The incident of August 5 is proof of that. BNP will never take refuge in fascism or give shelter. If anyone behaves differently, he will not be given a place in BNP.”
Various conspiracies and plots are going on against the country, both domestic and foreign; he said adding the allies of fascism are not sitting idle.
“They are conspiring in various ways. Everyone must remain united to confront all conspiracies. There is no alternative to unity,” he said.
Referring to the attack on the presiding officer at the BNP party council of Lamchar Union No. 6 in Ramganj on Saturday night as part of Awami fascist practices, he said, “This is a manifestation of Awami culture, which cannot continue in BNP. To make BNP a party of the people, qualitative changes must be brought about among political leaders, as Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman did.
“For the past 17 years, we have been subjected to enforced disappearances, murders and torture. After August 5, we got an opportunity through the sacrifice of students and people and the mercy of Allah, we should not forget this,” he said.
Lakshmipur Municipality BNP’s newly elected president Rezaul Karim Liton, Upazila BNP convener Mozammel Haque Moju, Joint convener Shahabuddin Turki, former secretary Abdur Rahim VP, Municipality Convener Kamruzzaman, among others, were present.
