KHAGRACHARI, July 21, 2025 (BSS) - National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam today urged people of all communities living in hills to strengthen the bond of unity and harmony for peace and development of the country.
“There are various conflicts between different ethnic groups living in the hills. Both the hill and Bengali communities are deprived in various fields including economic development, education, and health. If development is brought about in the hills, then there is no alternative to unity and harmony,” he said.
He mentioned that if development can be brought about in the hills through harmony, all the hill and Bengali communities will be benefited.
Nahid Islam made this remarks at a rally organized after the march in Khagrachari as part of the "Desh Gorte July Padojatra (July March to Build the Nation)".
He said that the status of a country is determined by how much diversity a country can accommodate.
“The 1972 constitution denied that. The inclusion of these communities was not ensured in that constitution,” he added.
He commented that there were various differences such as hatred between nations, differences between religions, differences between secularism and Islam.
Earlier, at 2:30 pm, the procession left Chengi Square in the town and paraded through the important roads of the town.
Meanwhile, a large number of NCP leaders, activists and supporters from nine upazilas of the district have participated in the march.
Earlier, the central leaders reached Khagrachari from Chattogram. After the march and rally, they will return to Feni. The organization also has a program there.
After that, Mufti Inzamul Haque, a central member of NCP, offered prayers for recovery of all those killed and injured in the Milestone School and College aircraft crash.
