NARAYANGANJ, July 18, 2025 (BSS) - National Citizen Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam today called for taking preparations for another uprising if the existing game in politics does not stop.

“We will not play with any mafia system … we will not participate such old game as student-people uprising has been staged against this game and we have sacrificed our blood,” he said.

The NCP convener made these remarks while addressing a street rally at Chashara here this afternoon.

Nahid said the rules of the existing political game should be changed. If the game does not stop, preparations would be taken for another uprising, he added. 

Earlier as part of month long programme of ‘July procession for building the country’, the NCP leaders reached Nitaiganj of Narayanganj town at 5.30pm. Then they started street rally for joining the rally in front of Bijoy Smriti Stamba at Chasara here. 

Nahid Islam said fire has been set to the gateway of July procession in yesterday night and the terrorists were involved in this fire incident aiming to thwart the people from joining the procession.

Regarding the objective of the July procession, the NCP convener said the main objective of the July procession is to talk with the people in various districts, find out problems and discover the solution of these problems. “We want to go forward along with the people,” he added. 

Nahid said the existing system of the country needs to be changed and Narayanganj is the best example of this system, adding that Nayanganj is the combination of all evil practice like mafia system, godfather system and family system.

“This evil system of Narayanganj has been operated so many years across the country. Some families controlled the economy and politics of Narayanganj year after year. They have abducted people’s right through committing extortion, killing and terrorism,” he said. 

Giving warning to the terrorists, the NCP convener said there were so many killing cases in Narayanganj after the uprising, saying that why the law and order situation of Narayanganj has not improved?”

He said the mafia system of the Awami League is rehabilitating again, even the business run by the Awami League is getting restored again.

He alleged that threats are being given to the families of martyrs and the injured of July and they are living amid a sense of insecurity.

“The female leaders of the National Citizen Party are receiving threat. But we are not panic for this threat. We will break down the sanctuary of the terrorism,” Nahid said.  

Narayanganj played a significant role during the uprising, the NCP convener said, adding that Narayanganj is famous for its history and tradition and NCP would not lease Narayanganj to a particular family.

“We should build strong fort from our own places for building a democratic country and a democratic Narayanganj,” he added. 

Narayanganj is also a labor intensive city, he said, adding Narayanganj formed a huge resistance during the uprising as 56 persons were embraced martyrdom on the soil of Narayanganj and that’s why the name of the city would be written in golden alphabet.

At the rally, chief organizer (South) of the National Citizen Party (NCP) Hasnat Abdullah said the Awami League had not been ousted in a normal process, the people have ousted the party from the power through uprising.

Chaired by NCP joint member secretary Abdullah Al Alamin, the street rally also was addressed, among others, by member secretary Akhter Hossain, NCP Chief Organizer (Northern Region) Sarjis Alam, chief coordinator Nasir Uddin Patwary, senior joint convener Samantha Sharmin, senior joint member secretary Dr Tasnim Jara.  NCP’s different divisional, district and upazila level leaders attended it.
