RANGPUR, July 17, 2025 (BSS) - President of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) Rakibul Islam Rakib has said that as long as the organisation is exist, martyred Abu Sayeed's sacrifice will remain alive on the soil of Bangladesh.
"All JCD units across the country jumped into the July Movement on the orders of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman to overthrow the fascist regime and bring back democracy," he said.
He said this as the chief guest at the Rangpur divisional student rally organized to commemorate all martyrs of the mass uprising marking the first martyrdom anniversary of martyr Abu Sayeed and July Martyrs' Day on Wednesday afternoon.
Chaired by Rangpur Metropolitan JCD Convener Imran Khan Sujon, its central committee Senior Joint General Secretary Shyamal Malum addressed the rally held at the city's Grand Hotel Intersection as the main speaker.
The leaders of all eight district units and one organizational district unit of JCD of Rangpur division addressed the event.
Rangpur Metropolitan JCD Member-secretary Rabiul Islam Robi and its Rangpur District committee Member-secretary Aftabuzzaman Sujon moderated the rally.
Earlier, the JCD President visited Abu Sayeed's grave in village Babanpur on his first martyrdom anniversary, laid flowers and offered munajats there seeking divine blessing for Abu Sayeed, who was killed in police firing during the July Uprising last year.
Expressing his resentment over the fact that no student organization visited martyred Abu Sayeed's grave on July Martyrs' Day, the JCD President said that many student organizations that claimed the movement have forgotten Abu Sayeed in less than a year.
"Although none of them visited his grave, JCD is the only one who didn't forgot him. Therefore, we visited the grave of brave martyr Abu Sayeed in his village Babanpur under Pirganj upazila and paid due tribute to him," he said.
The JCD President said, "We want to reiterate that as long as Bangladesh exists, the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal will remember Abu Sayeed's sacrifice and unmatched heroism."
"We will never let Abu Sayeed be forgotten. The students and people of Rangpur will not let them forget, Insha'Allah," he said.
Strongly condemning the attack on the NCP by the terrorists of banned Chhatra League and Awami League in Gopalganj, Rakibul Islam said, "You are walking on the wrong path by relying on the defeated forces of 1971. You have forgotten your friends."
"An untoward incident has taken place in Gopalganj which is condemnable. We protest against it. We condemn the attack on the NCP rally by the genocidal fascist Hasina's friends and demand exemplary punishment for the culprits," he said.
At that time, Rangpur District BNP Convener Md Saiful Islam, JCD Central Vice-president MM Musa, Joint Secretary Saleh Md Adnan, Joint Secretary Taijul Islam, Rangpur District JCD Convener Sharif Newaz Joha and leaders of Rangpur district BNP and metropolitan units were present.
