CHATTOGRAM, July 13, 2025 (BSS) - Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur today stressed the need for conducting regular joint force operations until the upcoming national elections, saying such drives, if conducted based on specific evidence, would help further improve the country's law and order situation.

"Regular joint force operations have become indispensable to get rid of criminal activities. If properly carried out, these drives will provide relief to the public," he said.

He made the remarks while speaking at a view-exchange meeting with journalists at the VIP Lounge of Chattogram Press Club this afternoon.

Nur alleged that a conspiracy by both domestic and foreign groups is behind the recent attacks and vandalism in factories, incidents of which are reportedly on the rise.

The Gono Odhikar Parishad leader further said that if elections are held under a proportional representation (PR) system, it would be impossible to predict the identity of elected MPs in advance.

"This would reduce the influence of muscle power and black money in politics. The violence used to capture polling centers would also be eliminated," Nur observed.

Chattogram Press Club Member Secretary Jahidul Karim Kochi presided over the event. Among others, Baishakhi TV Bureau Chief Golam Maula Murad, former CMUJ President Shamsul Haque Haidari, Daily Kaler Kantho Special Correspondent Mustafa Naeem, CMUJ General Secretary Saleh Noman, and public rights activist Nasreen Akhtar were present.
