KHULNA, June 26, 2025 (BSS) - City Unit BNP General Secretary Shafiqul Alam Tuhin lodged a petition at a Khulna court against ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 155 others, including AL men and Police.
Tuhin submitted the plea before the Metropolitan Special Tribunal-1 this noon seeking to give an order to the Police to file a case in connection with an alleged attack during political program of BNP two years ago.
Judge Md. Sharif Hossain Haidar of the Metropolitan Special Tribunal-1 took the complaint into cognizance this evening, Ganesh Kumar Das, the tribunal bench assistant confirmed.
Earlier, the petition was submitted at the Khulna Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court by the plaintiff's lawyer Syed Shamim Hasan.
Talking to BSS, the lawyer Hasan stated that the court accepted the plea, which included allegations under Section 10 of the law, including the Explosives Act and attempted murder.
According to the complaint, on May 19, 2023, Sonadanga Thana BNP organized a worker's meeting at the Khulna Press Club auditorium.
The event was attended by BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Executive Committee's Information Secretary Azizul Bari Helal and several other central and local leaders.
The complaint alleged that on orders by the then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, members of the police, Awami League, Jubo League and Chhatra League attacked the event with weapons, forcibly shut it down, opened fire on BNP activists and detonated explosives.
At least 50 BNP leaders and activists reportedly received gunshots and shrapnel wounds, the complainant alleged.
The other accused included ex-parliament members Sheikh Helal Uddin, Sheikh Salahuddin Jewel, Begum Munnujan Sufian and S M Kamal Hossain, ex-KCC Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque, AL and Jubo League leaders Md Babul Rana, Sheikh Sohel Uddin, Sheikh Rubel, Sheikh Belal Uddin Babul, Shafiqul Rahman Palash and Sheikh Shahjalal Sujon.
The Police Officials included ex-additional deputy commissioner Joydeb Chowdhury, additional deputy commissioner Sonali Sen, assistant commissioner Gopinath Kanjilal, ex-OC of Khulna Sadar thana Hasan Al Mamun and other several police officials.
