DHAKA, June 25, 2025 (BSS) - The Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) today conducted a fire fighting, rescue, first aid and evacuation drill at the metro rail stations at Uttara and Bijoy Saroni.
The drill was held at Uttara Center at 11 am and at Bijoy Sarony at 3 pm today, said a fire service press release.
Various equipment including water tender, pump carrying tender, scissor lift, ambulance and snorkel vehicle were used in the drill.
The drill demonstrated practical exercises on how to protect passengers, extinguish the fire, evacuate the general public and how to provide first aid to the injured and send them to the hospital in the event of a sudden fire incident in metro rail or its stations.
Along with the Fire Service and Civil Defence, metro rail security personnel and local volunteers of the Fire Service participated in the exercise.
During the exercise, members of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and Traffic Police performed other security duties including vehicle control.
At the end of the exercise, AKM Khairul Alam, Director (Administration) of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited, delivered a speech.
Md. Saleh Uddin, Deputy Director of the Dhaka Division of Fire Service and Civil Defence, briefed the media personnel.
Training exercise has been organized with the aim of creating awareness and informing the Metro Rail authorities and the general public about what to do in an actual accident, Saleh Uddin said.
The two exercises were conducted by Kazi Nazmuzzaman, Assistant Director of Fire Service and Civil Defence, Dhaka.
The program was moderated by Md. Shajahan Sikder, officer of the Media Cell and senior station officer AKM Raihanul Ashraf.
At that time, officials and employees of various levels, including the zone heads of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited and Fire Service and Civil Defence, were present.
