DHAKA, June 25, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today ordered to attach two plots, two flats and a luxury vehicle and to freeze 38 bank accounts of former Member of Parliament (MP) Mrinal Kanti Das and his wife Nilima Das over graft allegations.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, allowing separate petitions filed by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Of the properties, which are to be attached are- one flat in Dhanmandi, one plot in Purbachol, one luxury vehicle under the name of Mrinal, while one plot and one flat in Mohammadpur area were under the name of his wife Nilima.
Of the 38 bank accounts, 30 accounts belong to Nilima Das, eight accounts belong to Mrinal, ACC sources said.
The anti-graft body in its pleas said Mrinal Kanti Das allegedly amassed huge illegal wealth during his tenure as MP, by misusing power and through corruption.
"He and his wife may try to sell, hand over or transfer the ill-gotten properties to evade justice and these should be attached and frozen immediately," the ACC pleas added.
