DHAKA, June 21, 2025 (BSS) - Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), the student wing of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), has launched a 15-day nationwide tree plantation campaign marking the World Environment Day 2025.
The initiative, which began on Friday, follows the directives of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and is part of a broader effort to promote environmental awareness and sustainability under the slogan "Green Bangladesh."
Tarique Rahman officially announced the programme earlier this month and shared a message on June 5, marking World Environment Day.
The message outlined his vision to combat environmental degradation and pollution.
As part of the campaign, JCD leaders and activists across the country are planting a wide variety of trees, including flowering, fruit-bearing, and medicinal species, in their local communities.
In Mymensingh, members of the Trishal upazila and municipal units planted trees at the Trishal Upazila Health Complex, Trishal Upazila Model Mosque, and along both sides of the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway.
In Gaibandha, tree plantation activities took place at several educational institutions including Lakshmipur School and College, Haji Osman Gani Degree College, Dariapur, Lenga Bazar Ideal College, and Tulsighat Shamsul Haque Degree College.
In the capital, the Dhaka Metropolitan East unit of JCD planted trees in various locations, including Kalabagan Krira Chakra Ground and nearby staff quarters.
