ACC conducts nationwide raids over corruption, irregularities

DHAKA, June 17, 2025 (BSS) - The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) carried out multiple enforcement raids today across the country in response to allegations of irregularities, harassment and misuse of government resources, according to a press release issued by the ACC.

In Mymensingh, a team from the ACC's Mymensingh Integrated District Office conducted a surprise inspection at the Bhaluka Upazila Health Complex following complaints of harassment and irregularities in healthcare services.

Another ACC team from the Madaripur Integrated District Office launched a raid at the Department of Agricultural Extension in Madaripur over allegations that rain gauge meters-procured with World Bank funds to help farmers receive early weather updates-had failed to serve their purpose due to negligence.

The enforcement team reviewed all related procurement and maintenance records and took statements from the Deputy Director and Deputy Assistant Agricultural Officer.

In a separate operation, the ACC's Rangamati Integrated District Office investigated complaints of misuse of government vehicles and misappropriation of development funds for personal projects at the Khagrachari office of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED).

The team, accompanied by impartial engineers from the Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board, examined records from the Khagrachari Roads and Townships Department and LGED.

They also inspected road repairing and carpeting linked to Banshjhar Restaurant and Richang Jharna. Preliminary findings supported the allegations of fund misallocation and misuse of official resources.
