DHAKA, June 16, 2025 (BSS) - National Standing Committee meeting of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) began around 8:30 pm tonight at the BNP Chairperson's political office in Gulshan here.
BNP media cell member Shairul Kabir Khan confirmed the matter and said BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is expected to join the meeting virtually from London and will preside over the session.
According to reliable BNP sources, a key focus of the meeting will be to assess the political implications of the recent high-profile meeting between Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus and Tarique Rahman held on June 13 at the Dorchester Hotel in London.
Party sources added that the issue is being viewed with 'great seriousness'.
The meeting will also address potential strategies for reorganizing the party's central leadership and grassroots network to ensure a fair and neutral environment ahead of the next national parliamentary elections.
Besides, the committee is expected to discuss the recent rise in COVID-19 infections and the growing threat of dengue outbreaks across the country.
The meeting will also include a review of the evolving conflict between Iran and Israel and its last update.
