DHAKA, June 3, 2025 (BSS) – BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today said BNP always wants that the country would run well and a free, fair and acceptable election is held to this end.

He said this while distributing Eid gifts to the underprivileged people at the BNP’s central office in the city’s Nayapaltan area marking the 44th martyrdom anniversary of founder of BNP Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.

The Senior BNP leader condemned the interim government's budget of 7.90 lakh crore BDT, questioning its benefit for the poor.

He noted that 23% of the total budget would be spent on administrative salaries and 14% on interest payments, leaving little for health or education.

He said, “This budget will deepen poverty and increase the burden on middle and lower-income groups.”

Rizvi mentioned Ziaur Rahman’s leadership and efforts to address the nation's crises during the 1974 famine.

“Zia’s initiatives, such as boosting food production and providing low-interest loans to farmers, laid the foundation for Bangladesh's progress,” he added.

With Convenor of Jatiyatabadi Tanti Dal Abul Kalam Azad in the chair, the event was moderated by its General Secretary Mujibur Rahman.

Among others, by BNP leaders Abdus Salam, Mir Sarafat Ali Sopu, and Professor Aminul Islam addressed the function.
