DHAKA, May 31, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Vice-Chairman Advocate Zainul Abedin today said Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman is embedded in the hearts of the people of this country due to his boundless patriotism. 

“His contributions and step in the Great War of Liberation and later in the nation building activities will remain as a milestone in the country’s history,” he said.

The BNP leader was taking part at a discussion organized by the Dhaka Bar Association marking the 44th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.

Acting President of the Dhaka Bar Association Md. Abdur Razzak presided over the programme while its General Secretary Syed Nazrul Islam, former President Mohsin Mia, Vice-President Shahiduzzaman, former General Secretary Hossain Ali Khan Hasan, Member Secretary of the Dhaka Bar Unit of the Nationalist Lawyers Forum Nihar Hossain Faruk, Treasurer of the Dhaka Bar Association Abdur Rashid Molla, Cultural Affairs Secretary Nurjahan Begum (Beauty), Library Secretary Nargis Parveen Mukti and Assistant Secretary of Nationalist Lawyers Forum Md.

Iltutmish Sawdagar Annie, also spoke on the occasion, among others.

Paying tribute to the memory of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, Advocate Zainul Abedin said Awami League government wanted to erase the name of Ziaur Rahman from the history, but failed. 

“Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman cannot be erased from people's minds. He is embedded in people's hearts. There are a few reasons for this. He declared independence of the country and fought for Bangladesh because he was a real patriot,” he said.

Earlier, essay writings, drawing and public speaking competitions were held for children of the members of the association. Later, prizes were distributed among the winners.
