DHAKA, May 30, 2025 (BSS)-Aminul Islam Bulbul, the newly elected president of
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has said he would make cricket accessible for
everyone within a short span of time.
"Since time is short... we know that Test matches last five days, ODIs last
seven hours. I have come here to play a quick T20 innings. I will play a good
T20 innings, which you all will remember," Aminul said, immediate after being
elected as the BCB president.
"I will try to make cricket accessible to everyone, so that everyone can
play. We should make a statement that cricket is for everyone. I want to
start such a work and continue."
He replaced Faruque Ahmed as the BCB president after the latter's
councillorship was revoked by the National Sports Council (NSC).
Aminul, the first Test centurion of Bangladesh said, he will try to take
cricket a new height with the help of the other experienced directors and
stakeholders.
"Today I have received a big responsibility. I believe that not only 11
people will play cricket, but all of Bangladesh will play cricket," he
remarked.
He laid emphasize on working as a unit, a term that is considered as the
'success mantra' in cricket.
"You (the media) along with other stakeholder are a very important part for
the development of Bangladeshi cricket and for the sustainability of cricket.
So I hope that we will work as a team."
He believes Bangladesh cricket has the potential to reach a great height even
though the performance of late has seen downhill spiral.
"We have been playing Tests for 25 years. We are performing well. Our Under-
19 team has won the World Cup. Our women's team has won the Asia Cup. We can
and will hope for better," he said.
"We have the potential for that. Therefore I emphasized on team work. We are
all a team, we all support Bangladesh. Let's work together to take Bangladesh
cricket to a different level."
Aminul said he has the confidence to thrive in as BCB president, a hot seat
which remains under scanner always.
"I can say with confidence that the skillset I have at the moment is a
package. I have worked with small countries like Tajikistan and Uzbekistan
where cricket is not played and also with Pakistan and India where it is
played."
"I will try my best. I hope I will not fail. I will share my experience with
Bangladesh. So as a cricketer, I am not sitting here, I will try to fulfill
my responsibility well."
He also revealed his plan in short: "I will try to decentralize Bangladesh in
the way that I learned from the cricket of our (ICC) partner countries or how
a boy from an upazila can play cricket and come into the mainstream, oozing
with confidence."
"I think this responsibility is better. Because I may have to do less work,
I will have to give more guidance with the help of experienced directors."
