DINAJPUR, May 24, 2025(BSS) - In a special drive during the last 24 hours, police has arrested a total of 108 people including 35 leaders and activists of banned Bangladesh Awami League (AL) from different parts of the district.

Of the arrestees, most of the AL activists have been accused in cases relating to last year’s July-August uprising, Md Marfat Hossain, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Dinajpur told in a media briefing here today.

The prominent arrested AL leaders and activists are-Md Saiful Islam, former General Secretary of Mukundapur union under Birampur upazila, its General Secretary Md Sajidur Rahman and Joint Secretary Zakirul Islam, General Secretary of Poly Prayogpur union under same upazila Manjurul Islam, President of Ghoraghat union AL Anarul Islam, General Secretary of a ward under Ghoraghat Pourashava AL Dilzar Hossain, Adviser of Fulbari Upazila AL Aziz Mondal, General Secretary of Khairbari union AL under Fulbari upazila Gosto Mohon Chowdhury, President of Golapganj union AL under Nababganj upazila Abdus Sagir and Publicity Secretary of banned Nababganj Upazila Chhatra League Md Kamruzzaman, Executive Committee (EC) Member of Dinajpur Poura AL Muntasir Mamun Milon, its Science and Technology Secretary Sakhawat Hossain alias Rafi, EC Member of Dinajpur Sadar Rocky Hssan, Legal Affairs Secretary of Poura AL Adv. Md Maksedur Rahman Shahjada, Vice-President of a Ward AL Anwar Hossain, Assistant Secretary of Chehelganzi Union AL under Sadar upazila Sadikul Islam, Vice-President of same union Nazrul Islam, its EC Member Ajgar Ali, EC Member of Sheikhpura union AL Shahinur Islam and EC Member of Dinajpur poura AL Riazul Islam.

All the arrested people including the AL leaders and activists were produced before the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate, Dinajpur, from where they were sent to jail, police said.
