BOGURA, May 23, 2025 (BSS) – BNP National Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan has stated that the 31-point outline, declared by the party's acting Chairman Tarique Rahman for structural reforms in the country will only be possible to materialize through the collective effort and cooperation of all.
Criticizing the situation of the country over the past decade and a half, Nazrul added, “In the last 15 years, all the tiers of the country were destroyed. BNP has announced 31 points to repair these destroyed tiers. But implementing the 31 points will not be possible without cooperation from all.”
He made the remarks while addressing a seminar titled ‘Youth’s Thoughts on Agricultural Development, Environmental Protection and Civic Issues’ held at the five-star Hotel Momo Inn Convention Hall in Bogura city today.
While development has taken place in Bangladesh, it has not been inclusive, he said, adding, “There was development in the country, but it was not for everyone. Even though there was democracy, it was not for everyone.”
Nazrul urged citizens to evaluate political parties based on their historical performance.
“Many parties will say many things. Look at their past. In that regard, BNP should be the people's first choice for the future development of the country,” he said.
Responding to a student’s question on the closure of jute mills, Nazrul emphasized on BNP’s pro-industry stance, saying that BNP’s policy is against the closure of industries.
“BNP believes in production and development. Shutting down industries is not BNP’s policy. If we form the government, we will work to reopen the 25 closed jute mills and ensure payment of all dues to the workers,” he said.
Bobby Hajjaj, Chairman of the Nationalist Democratic Movement and a faculty member at North South University also addressed the seminar.
