MYMENSINGH, May 21, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan today said though "fascism" fell in the country in July mass uprising, democracy has yet to gain a firm footing in the country.
He told the inaugural function of membership renewal and primary membership collection campaign of Mymensingh Divisional unit of BNP at Town Hall here.
Nazrul Islam Khan said the people have been fighting for many years for the demand of national elections under a non-partisan and neutral government.
"For the first time in history, a government has shamefully fled. However, democracy for which this change is needed has not yet been fully established. This will be possible only through the national elections" he said.
BNP Treasurer and Member Secretary of the Membership Renewal Committee M. Rashiduzzaman Millat spoke as the special guest at the event with BNP Organizing Secretary Shariful Alam in the chair.
Party's assistant organizing secretaries Advocate Wares Ali Mamun and Abu Wahab Akand, Mymensingh South District BNP convener Zakir Hossain Bablu, North District Convenor Professor Enayetullah Kalam, Metropolitan Convener Professor AKM Shafiqul Islam, South District BNP joint convener Alamgir Mahmud Alam and Member Secretary Rokonuzzaman Sarkar Rokon also spoke.
