DHAKA, May 14, 2025 (BSS) - BNP chairperson's advisor Zainul Abdin Farroque today said the “fascist” Awami League allies are conspiring to postpone elections.

“I request the interim government to identify them. The people want elections. Make arrangements for elections soon,” he told a discussion organized by the Bangladesh Nationalist Pharmacy Association at Jatiya Press Club here.

Farroque said, “We do not want elections to bring BNP to power, but to restore the people's right to vote for which we have been protesting for 16 years.”

Regarding the murder of Dhaka University student and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal leader Samya, the BNP leader said, Suhrawardy Udyan is next to Dhaka Medical, BUET, and Dhaka University.

“This Udyan is a safe haven of trading banned liquor, gambling, anti-social activities, and a gathering of robbers. Doesn't anyone notice these things? One of our student leaders has been killed. There will be an investigation committee, and then nothing will happen,” he said.

BNP's religious affairs secretary Rafiqul Islam Zaman and Tanti Dal senior joint secretary general Kazi Moniruzzaman Monir were present with host organization president Dr. AB Siddique Howlader in the chair.
