DHAKA, May 4, 2025 (BSS) - The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed two separate cases against Ranjit Kumar Talukder, a former member of Dhaka Taxes Appellate Tribunal and his wife Jhumur Majumder over allegations of amassing wealth illegally.
ACC Director General Akhtar Hossain said Ranjit was accused of misusing his official position to unlawfully acquire wealth amounting to Tk. 2,24,84,105 beyond known sources of income.
Addressing a media briefing at its head office at Segunbagicha, he said his wife Jhumur was also accused of accumulating assets illegally worth of Tk. 9,16,10,190 allegedly.
The director general said that the ACC filed cases against them under section 27(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004; section 109 of the Penal Code.
He, however, said that the ACC will bring further investigate after getting evidence of amassed illegal asset.
