RANGPUR, May 1, 2025 (BSS) - Noted thinker, writer, philosopher and human rights activist Farhad Mazhar has said that Shaheed Abu Sayeed's supreme sacrifice is an important political and philosophical event in the country's history.

"Martyr Abu Sayeed, by despising his own life, has entered an indestructible life by heroically letting his chest is in front of a bullet," he said.

He made this observation at a discussion titled 'Conversation of Mass Uprisings' in the virtual classroom of the Academic Building-2 of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) on Thursday.

Farhad Mazhar said, "Abu Sayeed had an intention or desire. This intention was not for himself but for the collective, which he wanted to see implemented. This collective intention was a mass uprising".

"Due to Abu Sayeed's self-sacrifice, his name will be discussed not only in Bangladesh but also all over the world," he mentioned.

Addressing the students of the university, Farhad Mazhar said, "If we want to gain a strong place in the world assembly, we will have to reach a much higher level in the intellectual field".

Vice-chancellor of BRUR Professor Dr. Md. Showkat Ali said that the image of Shaheed Abu Sayeed with his two hands outstretched in front of death is rare in the history of the world.

"The deeds and thoughts of Shaheed Abu Sayeed will be immortalized all over the world," he said, adding that everyone should remain united by embracing the spirit of the July Mass Uprising.

The Vice-chancellor expressed his firm optimism that this university of Shaheed Abu Sayeed (BRUR) will occupy the seat of the best university in the country in the coming days.
