DHAKA, May 16, 2023 (BSS) - Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen today said Dhaka doesn't believe that withdrawal of additional police escort from envoys of four countries would not affect the bilateral ties between Bangladesh and those countries as it is protocol related issue.
He made the remark while responding to queries of journalists at Foreign Service academy in the capital this afternoon.
The foreign secretary said regular security measures for foreign missions and their personnel remain unchanged as per Vienna Convention.
Additional escort was mainly used for traffic clearance purposes, Masud added.
The government, he said, will offer the services of a special force of Ansar to the foreign missions in Dhaka as alternatives as the withdrawal of additional escort services for four diplomats came into effect.
The foreign secretary said the government does not see any security deficit in the country and militancy and the law and order situation is fully controlled.
