Ctg turns festive look over Padma Bridge inauguration
CHATTOHRAM, June 25, 2022 (BSS) – People from all walks of life in Chattogram and its adjacent districts celebrated the opening of the Padma Bridge with huge enthusiasm, lauding the heroic role of Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to materialize the dream of Padma Bridge into reality.
They termed that the name of Prime Sheikh Hasina will remain inscribed forever in the hearts of the residents Chattogram as well as Bangladesh as she has built the long-cherished Padma Bridge with its own funding defeating conspiracies.
The people of Chattogram have witnessed all the programs live on the big screens and witnessed the new history.
Meanwhile, rallies and processions from different government, semi-government, private, autonomous, public offices and educational institutions paraded different streets arraying banners welcoming the Prime Minister.
Chattogram District Administration chalked out colorful programmes including live screening of the inaugural function of the Padma Bridge by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from Mawa point on a vast canvas set up on the Celebration Mancha beside Chattogram MA Aziz Stadium.
The programmes also included releasing balloons and pigeons, competitions on essay writing, drawing and poem recitation for children, cultural functions with rendering songs and dances composed on the Padma Bridge and display of fireworks.
The main city streets of Chattogram, important places, road islands, public, private and others buildings have been decorated and illuminated and gates with replicas of the Padma Bridge and branding festoons were set up marking the inauguration of the dream bridge.
A jubilant rally led by Divisional Commissioner Asharf Uddin at 8.30 am from MA Aziz stadium and concluded at the same venue after parading different city streets.
Political leaders and activists including City Awami League (AL), government officials, students, socio-cultural activists and different professional organizations and civil society members participated in the rally.
Divisional Commissioner Ashraf Uddin, Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Mohammad Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, Chattogram Range DIG Anwar Hossain, CMP Commissioner Saleh Mohammad Tanvir, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mominur Rahman, Superintendent of Police SM Rashidul Haque among others attended the function.
Besides, senior officials of all government departments, renowned freedom fighters, journalists, writers, cultural personalities and general people of all strata and professions were present.
Chattogram Press club and Chattogram Union of Journalists organized doa mahfil on the occasion of inauguration of the Padma Bridge.
Chattogram City and District AL, Chattogram Chamber of Commerce and Industries, BGMEA and different educational institutions also organized same programme.
