DHAKA, Aug 6, 2026 (BSS) - The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has expressed sincere regret over the untoward situation created by several individuals during the "Reception and Discussion Meeting for July Martyrs' Families and July Fighters" held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center on August 5.

The incident took place following allegations that the documentary screened at the event contained inaccuracies in presenting the sequence of events of the July Mass Uprising.

In a statement issued today, the ministry said the allegations regarding the documentary would be examined, and after making the necessary revisions, the documentary would be released as soon as possible.

The ministry said it remains committed to preserving the history of the July Mass Uprising with accuracy and inclusion.

It said every citizen has the right to raise complaints regarding the documentary or any other issue, but such complaints should be made in a civilized and orderly manner.

The statement said creating disorder in the presence of the President, foreign diplomats, media representatives and invited guests had tarnished the country's image.

The ministry said it also warrants consideration whether there was any politically motivated attempt to disrupt a state function and damage the country's image.

The statement said the situation that was created caused mental distress to the invited families of the martyrs and the injured July fighters, as reflected in their remarks.

It urged all concerned to refrain from spreading any misleading or defamatory misinformation.
The ministry called upon the entire nation to remain aware of and vigilant against such reckless, anti-state and anti-democratic activities.
