President receives credentials from Indonesian ambassador

DHAKA, Jan 22, 2026 (BSS) - President Mohammed Shahabuddin today received credentials from the newly appointed resident ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Bangladesh, Ms. Listyowati, during a formal ceremony at Bangabhaban.

Welcoming the ambassador, the President praised the strong ties between Bangladesh and Indonesia and called on her to play a key role in further enhancing trade and economic relations for mutual benefit, an official at Bangabhaban told BSS.

Following the submission of her Letter of Credence, Ms. Listyowati held a brief meeting with the President, reaffirming Indonesia's commitment to strengthening bilateral relations across various fields. President Shahabuddin expressed hope that the partnership would expand further during her tenure.

The President emphasized the importance of collaboration between the private sectors of the two countries to seize investment opportunities. 

"Bangladesh offers significant investment potential for Indonesia in sectors such as agro-processing, light engineering, infrastructure development, and tourism," he noted.

The President assured the ambassador of his full support in carrying out her mission in Bangladesh and in further consolidating the ties between the two nations, the Bangabhaban spokesperson added.

Secretaries and senior officials of the President's office were present at the ceremony. 

Upon her arrival, a contingent of the horse-mounted President Guard Regiment (PGR) accorded the ambassador a guard of honour. The national anthems of both countries were played, and the ambassador inspected the guard of honour.
