DHAKA, Aug 6, 2021 (BSS) - A police constable on-duty security
personnel at Dhaka District Superintendent of Police (SP) Maruf
Hossain Sardar's official residence at the Bailey Road here was shot
dead this afternoon.
Police and hospital sources said the deceased was Mehedi Hasan, 26.
He was on duty at the main gate of SP's official residence in the
capital.
Sub-Inspector (SI) of Ramna Police Station Abdus Salam took the
constable to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) around 2.15 pm
and later doctors pronounced him dead.
Talking to BSS, Maruf said Mehdi Hasan was on duty at the main gate
with a rifle loaded with ammunitions.
"It is guessed that the constable wanted to commit suicide . . .
Otherwise he might have died due to misfiring or the bullet might have
come out by pressing the trigger inadvertently," he added.
Maruf said the crime detection team of the Criminal Investigation
Department (CID) and Ramna police visited the spot. They are
collecting evidence," he said.
An inhabitant of Tangail, Hasan's body was sent to hospital morgue
for autopsy.
