Taposh hopes to bring Aedes menace under control through combing operation

DHAKA, Aug 4, 2021 (BSS) - Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh today hoped that the ongoing combing operations would be able to bring Aedes mosquitos in the capital under control.

He also urged all the city dwellers to become aware and responsible to control dengue in the capital.

Taposh said these while talking to newsmen after inspecting an anti-mosquito drive at Khilgaon PWD Colony this morning, a DSCC release said.

“Repeatedly we had urged the authorities of government residential complexes in our areas against the mosquito breeding grounds, we gave them letters. We asked them to keep their areas clean. But even today while visiting the area, we found mosquito larvae. It is really sad. It is difficult to control the dengue situation unless we keep our own area clean, take action so that there is no stagnant water, where mosquitoes can breed,” he said.

The DSCC Mayor said they are getting strict against the pollution, adding, “we are making fines.”

“In spite of all of these, we are observing sluggishness and irresponsibility, which is not expected at all,” he added.

The Mayor earlier planted saplings on the bank of Manda canal beside TT Para Pump Station.

Later he inspected anti-mosquito drives in Motijheel T&T Colony, Segunbagicha and Eskaton Garden areas.
