Bangladesh Army seizes weapons in Rangamati
DHAKA, July 31, 2021 (BSS) - An army petrol team attested four UPDF (Prasit) members with weapons today.
Acting on a tip off, the army patrol team conducted an operation in Kattali area of Langadu upazila of Rangamati district at around 3:00 pm and arrested the four UPDF members.
The arrested terrorists are Suren Chakma (36), Annasang Chakma (45), Anil Chakma (19) and Simon Chakma (40), said a press release.
From the detainees they seized one AK 22 rifle, 77 rounds of bullet, a magazine, a walkie talkie set, one solar charger, collection receipt books, four mobile sets, a wrist watch, fake ID cards, banners with anti-state slogans, cash of Tk 63,592 and other equipment.
The detainees had been creating unrest in various upazilas of Rangamati for a long time through terrorist activities and extortion.
Legal action is being taken against the detainees.
The army continues such operations to keep the security situation in the Chittagong Hill Tracts stable.
