CHATTOGRAM, July 30, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 1466 more people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the district in the last 24-hour, climbing the number of infections to 81,217.

Meanwhile,a total of nine more people, including five female, died at Covid-19 in the district in the last 24-hour till 6 am today, taking the death toll to 956,

The infection rate is 37.37 percent.

 This is the highest infection in a single day in the district till inception of Corona.
 
The daily new infection figure shows a slight enhanced compared to the previous day’s figure of 1315, but the recovery rate has been declining continuously in the district in recent weeks,” Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, told BSS today.
 
Among the infected patients, 1085 are from Chattogram city and 381 from different upazilas of the district. The health expert of Chattogram urged city dwellers again and again to strictly follow health rules and use masks due to continuous increasing corona infections here.  
 
With nine death deaths on Thursday, the number of coronavirus (COVID-19) deaths in Chattogram reached 958, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, said.
 
“Among the reported fatalities, 574 were the residents of the port city and the rest 384 were from different upazilas of the district,” he said.

Among the total 81,217 coronavirus infected people, 60,907 are the residents of the port city and the rest 20,310 are the inhabitants of different upazilas of the district, he continued.   
 
“The number of cured patients from the lethal virus infection has reached 55,497 in the Chattogram district with the recovery of 289 more patients on Thursday,” the health official said, adding that the percentage of recovery rate stands at 70.11.
 
A total of 4,213 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at designated hospitals here, he mentioned.
