CHATTOGRAM, Feb 18, 2022 (BSS)- Members of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) arrested a rickshaw-puller last night that was hit by a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Tuesday night, resulting in the death of a female doctor of Southern Medical College and Hospital in the port city.
The rickshaw-puller was identified as Mohammad Hridoy, 20, son of Nasir Uddin Mollah, hailed from Cumilla district.
The doctor Samina Akter, also a mother of two children, succumbed to her injuries at Chattogram Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) while undergoing treatment there.
Chattogram Metropolitan Police detained the rickshaw-puller around 9.30 pm on Thursday night from the Old Station Road area of the port city after watching the CCTV footage of the accident, said Md Nezam Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali thana.
The CCTV footage appeared that the accident occurred due to the reckless driving of the auto-driver and the negligence of rickshaw puller, he mentioned.
The auto-rickshaw driver Siddique was arrested immediately after the incident on Tuesday,” the OC added.
