RANGPUR, Sept 1, 2026 (BSS) - Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu has said that, as part of this year’s five-crore sapling distribution programme, five lakh saplings will be distributed in Lalmonirhat over the next one week.
“The Prime Minister’s election manifesto includes a programme to plant 25 crore trees. As part of this, five crore saplings will be distributed this year. Of them, five lakh saplings will be distributed in Lalmonirhat alone over the next one week,” he said.
He said this while distributing saplings among students to mark the 48th founding anniversary of BNP at the ‘Hamar Bari’ office in the Mission Mour area of Lalmonirhat district town this afternoon, according to a PID press release issued here this evening.
The minister said Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman founded the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in a historical context.
“At the same time, he also had a grand plan to make Bangladesh green,” he said, calling upon everyone to plant tree saplings to help implement the present government’s plan to plant 25 crore trees across the country in five years.
Lalmonirhat District Council Administrator AKM Mominul Haque, District Jubo Dal Convener Anisur Rahman Anis, Swechchasebak Dal Convener Mithun Sarkar Mithu, along with leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated organisations, were present.
Later, the Disaster Management and Relief Minister participated in a rally organised at the Lalmonirhat Railway Workers’ Party office to mark the 48th founding anniversary of BNP.
He also attended a discussion meeting and cultural programme organised in Lalmonirhat on the occasion of the founding anniversary of BNP as the chief guest.
