DHAKA, August 31, 2026 (BSS) – Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat today said the government is firmly committed to accelerating people-oriented development and carrying out initiatives that directly benefit citizens.

“The present government is committed to the development of the people and to carrying out people-friendly work,” he said.

Millat made the remarks while addressing as the chief guest a coordination meeting, organised by the Mymensingh district administration at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Mymensigh, said an official press release here.

The meeting reviewed the district’s law-and-order situation, narcotics control, good governance, transparency and accountability, implementation of electoral pledges and monitoring of public welfare and development activities.

Mymensingh Deputy Commissioner Md Saifur Rahman presided over the meeting.

The minister said public representatives as well as government officials and employees would have to make some sacrifices and work sincerely from their respective positions to ensure public welfare.

He stressed that coordinated efforts by the administration and elected representatives were essential to maintain law and order, curb narcotics, ensure good governance, transparency and accountability and successfully implement the government’s development agenda.

“If we can fulfil our election pledges, the people will receive what they are entitled to and their hopes and aspirations from the government will be fulfilled,” Millat said.
He cautioned that failure to properly discharge responsibilities could erode public confidence in the government.

“If we fail to perform our duties properly, the people will turn away from us,” he said.

Millat also underscored the need to complete ongoing development projects within stipulated timeframes while ensuring transparency and good governance.

He urged officials to discharge their responsibilities with sincerity and integrity, saying particular vigilance was required to combat narcotics and smuggling.

The deputy commissioner said all government departments and law enforcement agencies in the district were working together to improve law and order and ensure transparency and proper implementation of development projects.

He called upon the officials concerned to further intensify their efforts to fulfil the aspirations of the people.

Heads of different government departments, local public representatives, the city corporation administrator, distinguished personalities and journalists, among others, attended the meeting.
