DHAKA, Aug 26, 2026 (BSS) - Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon has underscored the importance of education in further strengthening Bangladesh-China relations, highlighting the historic role of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman in establishing and advancing the bilateral ties.
He said the relationship between the two countries was further developed under former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia and expressed hope that it would be strengthened further under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
The minister made the remarks while addressing the China-Bangladesh Education Cooperation Luncheon in Guangzhou, which brought together senior government officials, university leaders, education representatives and industry partners from Bangladesh and China.
The event focused on four key areas --- opportunities for Bangladeshi students to pursue higher education in China, cooperation between universities, joint research and vocational education and skills development, said a press release received here today.
Prime Minister's Adviser and Prime Minister's Office Spokesperson Mahdi Amin also addressed the discussion. He highlighted the history of Bangladesh-China relations and stressed the importance of carrying the longstanding friendship between the two countries forward.
Mahdi also highlighted the government's vision for third-language education and the growing importance of Chinese-language learning for Bangladeshi students.

Representatives of Chinese universities shared their views and proposals on student exchanges, academic cooperation, vocational education and skills training.
A major highlight of the event was the official unveiling of the China-Bangladesh International Service Center for Industry-Education Integration.
The center will facilitate cooperation between educational institutions and industries in Bangladesh and China, particularly in vocational education, skills development and joint programmes.
The event was seen as another significant step towards deepening Bangladesh-China friendship through education, skills development, language learning and greater people-to-people connectivity.
