DHAKA, Aug 22, 2026 (BSS) - President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has 
administered the oath of office to Bandarban lawmaker Sa Ching Prue as the 
Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs.

The swearing-in ceremony was held at Durbar Hall of Bangabhaban last evening.

Sa Ching Prue was elected as a member of parliament (MP) from Bandarban in 
the 13th parliamentary election held in February, 2026.

Earlier, he was first elected MP from the Bandarban constituency in the sixth 
parliamentary election in 1996.

During his long political career, he also contested the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) 
elections in 2001, 2009 and 2018, said a PID release this afternoon.

Born on January 15 in 1953 in the Kyangvita area of Bandarban Municipality, 
Sa Ching Prue is the son of Angshai Prue Chowdhury, a former state minister 
during the tenure of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, and Abai Prue 
Chowdhurani.
