DHAKA, Aug 18, 2026 (BSS) - Health officials today said they recorded 753 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts killing at least three persons in the past 24 hours.
"During the period, (of the 753) 98 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division, 94 in Chattogram division, 51 in Dhaka division, 106 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 135 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 135 in Khulna division, 61 in Mymensingh division, 46 in Rajshahi division and 24 in Rangpur division and three in Sylhet division, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.
Since the start of the dengue onslaughts Bangladesh this year witnessed so far 74 deaths while the disease inflicted 25,601.
The dengue last year claimed 413 lives and inflicted 1,02,861 people in the country.
Besides, the dengue claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in 2024.
