RAJSHAHI, Aug 16, 2026 (BSS) - A delegation of BRAC's Shikha Project today visited Rajshahi University (RU) to discuss initiatives aimed at preventing sexual violence, sexual harassment and stalking on the campus.
The delegation held an exchange of views meeting with RU Vice-Chancellor Professor Faridul Islam at the conference room of Administration Building-1.
Head of the delegation and BRAC Director A F M Shahidur Rahman briefed the meeting on the aims and objectives of the Shikha Project, which seeks to prevent sexual violence, sexual harassment and stalking in public and private spaces.
As part of implementing the project at RU, the delegation outlined various initiatives to raise awareness among teachers, students, officers and employees, including workshops, training programmes and other awareness-building activities.
The Vice-Chancellor welcomed the initiative and expressed hope that the Shikha Project's programmes would contribute to making the RU campus free from sexual violence, sexual harassment and stalking.
Pro-VC (Administration) Prof Md. Abdul Alim, Pro-VC (Education) Prof Mamunur Rashid, Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences Prof Md. Golam Mortuza, Registrar Prof Iftikharul Alam Masud and Proctor Prof Mahbubur Rahman were present at the meeting.
Chairman of the Department of Philosophy Prof Md. Ariful Islam, Director of the Central Science Laboratory Prof A B M Hamidul Haque, member of the Complaint Committee on Prevention of Sexual Harassment and Abuse Prof Shahnaz Parveen, and other distinguished teachers also attended.
